Why Bralettes with Cup Sizes Matter (Especially for Small Bands & Fuller Busts)

This week, we packed up a custom, ready made bralette for a customer who wears a 28F, and it’s one of those moments that perfectly sums up why I love creating custom lingerie so much. If you’ve ever tried to shop for lingerie in a 28 band, you already know how challenging it can be. Many brands and bra shops don’t carry bands that small, and when they do, the options are usually limited. But the challenge becomes even bigger when you’re looking for a bralette t
hat also comes in cup sizes.
Most bralettes on the market are sized S, M, L, etc. which might work for some bodies but rarely provides the support or fit needed for someone with a small band and fuller bust. A size small might fit the band but not the bust. A medium might fit the bust but be too loose around the ribcage. It’s a frustrating cycle that leaves many people feeling like bralettes simply aren’t an option for them. But they absolutely can be.
Why Cup-Sized Bralettes Make a Difference
When a bralette is designed with both band and cup sizing, it changes everything. Instead of forcing bodies to fit into generalized sizing, the garment is designed to work with the natural proportions of the body. For someone who wears a 28F, that means a snug band that actually provides support, bra cups that accommodate fullness without flattening or spilling over, a more comfortable and flattering fit overall.
Support doesn’t always have to come from underwires. With the right pattern, materials, and sizing, a bralette can feel supportive, comfortable, and beautiful all at the same time. This is exactly why I love making custom lingerie. Every piece is designed for a real body — not just a standard size chart. And honestly, there’s nothing better than sending off a piece knowing it was made specifically for the person who will wear it.
